Almaviva was established in 1997 through a partnership between Baron Philippe de Rothschild and Viña Concha y Toro. The project united Bordeaux winemaking tradition with one of Chile’s most distinguished Cabernet Sauvignon terroirs, creating a single flagship wine under the shared technical direction of the two founding families.
The estate occupies 65 hectares in Puente Alto, at the highest end of the Maipo Valley near the foothills of the Andes. Rocky alluvial soils, cool mountain breezes, and pronounced differences between daytime and nighttime temperatures support gradual ripening and natural freshness. Cabernet Sauvignon leads the blend, accompanied by Carménère, Cabernet Franc, Merlot, and Petit Verdot, producing a wine recognized for its concentration, refined structure, and long aging potential.
