Almacerro

Almacerro is a family-owned wine estate located high on Howell Mountain in Napa Valley. Proprietor Frank Scherkenbach acquired the 41-acre property in 2016 after decades of visiting the region, drawn to its remote setting and established mountain vineyard. Approximately 11 acres of vines occupy the rocky estate at an elevation of nearly 1,800 feet.

Vineyard manager Mike Wolf oversees the site, while winemaker Matilda Scott and consulting winemaker Françoise Peschon guide its small-production wines. Almacerro’s estate Cabernet Sauvignon combines the structure of Howell Mountain fruit with balance and aromatic detail. A Right Bank-inspired Proprietary Red built around Cabernet Franc and Merlot offers another interpretation of this rugged mountain terroir.
