Alex Moreau

Domaine Alex Moreau continues a family winegrowing history in Chassagne-Montrachet that dates to 1809. Alex joined his father, Bernard Moreau, at the family domaine in the 1990s and became responsible for much of its winemaking. Following the division of Domaine Bernard Moreau between Alex and his brother Benoît, the 2021 vintage became the first released under the Alex Moreau label.

The domaine is best known for Chardonnay from Chassagne-Montrachet and its Premier Cru vineyards, including Les Grandes Ruchottes, Les Champs Gain, La Maltroie, Morgeot, and La Cardeuse. Long pressing, indigenous-yeast fermentation, restrained new oak, and extended maturation on the lees produce white Burgundies with concentration, mineral tension, and aging potential. Limited Pinot Noir bottlings offer an equally refined expression of Chassagne-Montrachet.
